We are excited to share with you the choices we have to offer for 2007. Our tradition of providing you with the greatest selection of poultry in Canada continue; while ensuring that all our breeding stock is under our direct control; growing bio-secure housing; health monitored by us, as well as, the federal and provincial government; grown on a programme that ensures healthy, vigorous chicks, hatched in one of our two federally monitored hatcheries located in Westlock, under strict bio-security. All this and much more comes to you with every hatchling you receive from us.
We have just the right bird for your needs! Be it for eggs, meat or pleasure. Our choice even in the egg layers or meat birds is second to none! Review the information provided for each bird to achieve the best fit for your needs, facility and ability. The Cornish Cross and Bronze Turkey are unique! Our Cornish Cross is not to be confused with others with the same name. They are a hardier, slower growing meat bird, much better suited to a barn yard flock.
As promised last year we have provided a selection of new breeds in our line-up of Heritage Breeds. While providing utility, beauty and fun, we hope that your selection of the heritage breeds will also continue the important work of maintaining these precious birds for future generations. Ordering early and being flexible with your dates will help us supply you with the chicks of your choice. We hope you enjoy this year’s selection.
With each passing year, the emphasis on doing a better job in raising livestock in a healthful and humane way increases. Growing your own poultry is a good way to have a direct say, not only in the health and welfare of the birds, but also of you and your family. We have some useful information on pages 4 and 5 to help you in your efforts, as well as, some important information on page 10 on good practices on your farm.
We are please to announce that Canada Post has extended the chick mailing season to October 31st, 2007 (starting March 1st. Regrettably, due to a rate increase of up to 300% by Canada Post, for shipment of chicks, we have had no choice but to increase our shipping charge. You will notice that we have only increased our shipping charge by 50%.
We are delighted that due to the significantly stronger Canadian dollar, we have been able to reduce most of our equipment prices, despite 3 years of price increases by our suppliers.
Best wishes for the upcoming year, from all of us at Rochester Hatchery. We look forward to hearing from you in 2007!
Sincerely,

Al Keshwani
